Halloo,

I am wishing myself a Happy Birthday!

I am so grateful for the blessings of another year on earth, not many are fortunate to be here today.

Happy Birthday to me.
Happy Birthday to me.

I know that to some people I am still a baby. But to others, my children included, I am a dinosaur. Either way, I have learned quite a few life lessons in my 47 years on earth and will like to share 47 of those amazing life lessons with you in honour of my 47th birthday.

I am celebrating my 47th Birthday with 47 lessons out of the many lessons life has taught me so far. I hope they help someone out there:

1. Leave toxic situations quietly, no fights, no quarrels, no scenes, simply walk away.

2. Don’t sell yourself cheap. Nobody will value you highly if you sell yourself cheap.

3. Time is a currency, spend it wisely.

4. Fear is a dream killer. Conquer your fear if you want to realize your full potential.

5. Nobody owes me anything except what I work for. Sense of entitlement negates growth.

A 22 YEAR OLD ME!

6. I stop explaining what I am doing, I just let the results speak for me.

7. I stopped listening to people’s crap because when things go bad most of them are nowhere to be found.

8. I realize many people do not know how much fear they are carrying around, my job is to make sure they don’t project these fears onto me.

9. If a particular activity does not support the life I am trying to create for myself, I leave it out.

10. Don’t just open your eyes, open your mind too. You will be amazed at how much you can learn.

11. Gratitude is a door opener.

12. Loyalty means different things to different people. Be aware of this before projecting your expectations on others.

13. Collect moments, not things. Physical things fade but experiences linger on forever.

14. Surround yourself with positive people. Life becomes easier.

15. When you have a purpose in life, distractions won’t stand a chance.

16. Support is a two-way street. Avoid those who do nothing but take, take, take and never give anything back in return.

17. Nobody is perfect. Know your flaws and use them to your advantage.

18. No matter what you do in life, give it your very best.

19. I don’t follow blindly, I make sure the people I look up to are truly people with integrity.

20. A good attitude and an open mind open many doors. Many people are willing to help if you approach them with a good attitude.

21. I am my own best friend, if I don’t love and respect myself, how can I expect others to?

22. Stand up for what you believe in, if you don’t, you will accept just about anything.

23. Silence is not always a virtue, it can be a killer.

24. For your opinions to matter to me, you must have had similar experiences. I don’t care about how many certificates you have.

25. People sometimes take you for a fool just because you decide to be decent, let it not stop you.

26. You will know People’s status in your life when you are at your lowest.

27. It is okay to live a life that others do not understand.

28. Never get tired of promoting yourself. Don’t be shy.

29. There are many ways to fight your battles, choose the one that comes from your heart.

30. Self-audit is crucial to progress. Check how you talk, act, and think.

31. Give to others what you want in return.

32. Don’t just dream, act.

33. I refuse to accept anybody’s definition of me.

34. I decided to not let life troubles rob me off my sense of humour.

35. I use my limitations as a guide to what I can do. No point saying I can’t do this, I can’t do that, think about what you can actually do.

Walking out with my parents, friends, and family on my wedding day.

36. Energy doesn’t lie, trust it. Words are cheap, anybody can say anything, but energy can’t be controlled.

37. Consistency is important. It is a way to build trust.

38. Learning is a continuous process, we should only stop learning when we are dead.

39. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you start. Perfection comes with practice and experience.

40. Be your own cheerleader. Who knows about the effort and sweat that goes into your work more than you? No one!

My family!

41. I learn to respect those who treat others with decency.

42. I try not to judge others because everything is not always black or white.

43. You don’t plow, you don’t harvest.

44. If someone shows you their true colours, don’t try to sugarcoat them, believe them.

45. I only react to relevant things, my energy is very precious.

46. I chose not to be a prisoner in my own life, so if a belief, culture, tradition or any ideology does not sit well with me, I won’t do it.

47. I know my own mind, and I am not afraid to use it. This scares a lot of people but I find it liberating.

25 year old me!

Above all my mental health is of the highest priority, I am always taking steps to guide it.

Remember, it is not the number of years lived that matters but what we packed into the years, the experiences, the lives we touched, and the lives who touched us. Keep on living.
