Halloo,

Cleansing is an essential part of daily facial skincare routine; we must not take it for granted. Why?

We must completely clean our facial skin to remove dirt, build-up, and residue from skincare products, make-up, and environmental pollution. This is particularly important for those of us who live in cities where the level of pollution is really high.

We all know of the many dangers of environmental pollution, but we may not know the detrimental effects on our facial skin. Research shows that constant exposure to pollution causes the skin to age prematurely, it also leads to skin dryness, makes skin rough, causes skin discolouration, results in skin looking dull and tired, and has a lot of other dangerous effects on the skin.

But we must go out, especially to earn a living. How then do we avoid all these happening to our faces? We can’t all become hermits just so our facial skin can stay healthy, it is impossible just like me winning an Olympic medal in gymnastics.

This is where thorough cleaning by cleansing with healthy skincare products is required. You have to take particular care to do it properly with skin-friendly cleansers, not some harsh cleansers that do more damage than good.

I have read about double- cleanse method, triple-cleanse method, and other questionable cleansing methods all over the place. I have reservations about most of them.

There are also too many cleansers to choose from in the shops: Oil-based Cleansers, Cream Cleansers, Gel Cleansers, Foaming Cleansers, and Water-based cleansers. Well, my favourites are always Plant-based Cleansers (Natural Oils, Aloe Vera, Rosewater, Witch Hazel, and so on.

I am a simple girl with simple taste and like to keep things as simple as possible. I simply cleanse my face daily with rosewater mixed with aloe Vera. Remember that I hardly wear any make-up. On days that I apply makeup, I cleanse my face with almond oil first before using my usual cleanser (Rosewater and aloe Vera mix).

This may be too simple for some people, that is okay. The whole idea is to clean your facial skin thoroughly. Make sure traces of dirt and build-ups from both skincare products and environmental pollution are completely removed from your face daily. And make sure to use cleansers that are gentle, preferably plant-based skincare products.

Cleansing properly will also leave your facial skin clean and clear to allow your Serum and Moisturizer to work better. Be careful not to over-wash your face as this can cause dullness and dryness due to the face losing its natural oils.
