Halloo,

It is surprising that some people still consider taking care of their skin as vanity. If I have a coin for every time someone told me they don’t apply any cream on their skin or they just rub whatever they can lay their hands on, I will be very rich.

Skincare is not frivolity. It is to be taken seriously. Skincare is not just for outward appearances, but it also affects our mental health. Those who values their health and general well-being will take Skincare as part of their self-care.

When you care for yourself, you are boosting your confidence. Having skin problems is a source of major stress, concern, low self-esteem, and probably depression. Those who have acne, eczema, psoriasis, pimples, blemishes, and other issues will back me on this. It is worrying for them, so to dismiss skincare as something those who have too much time on their hands do is short sightedness.

There are little, little things we do daily that goes a long way in making us happy and secured, skincare routine is one of them. That you have a beautiful skin naturally does not mean that caring for it is not needed. A beautiful garden still needs pruning.

You may look good today but ageing is something that comes to us all. How fast your skin aged all depends on how you care for it today. That is why some people will start using aggressive chemicals on their skin when ageing signs starts, if they had been taking care of their skin right from the word go, ageing signs could have been delayed.

Be kind to yourself please. There is link between skin and mental health. Bad skin causes anxiety, make no mistake about it. If you start today to do the basics of skincare, you are hardly going to be searching for miracles in the future.

A well cared for skin will look good and make the owner confident and happy. Spending money on expensive clothes while your skin is left to do as it pleases yield no result. Waste of money really.

If you are looking for overall care of your wellbeing, you are eating well, taking vitamins, exercising, meditating, sleeping, remaining calm, avoiding stress, please add skincare to the mix. This will give you complete approach to your health and wellbeing.

Make it a point of duty to develop a skincare routine, both daily, weekly, and monthly. Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturize, use nourishing natural skincare products. I particularly favour products that are edible or plant-based; I find comforts in them. So raw butters and natural oils are my favourites.

For me my skincare routine is part of my self-care, self-love, and for my self-confidence. I can’t separate them; they go hand in hand. This is another way of demonstrating kindness to myself.

Thanks for reading. I eagerly look forward to hearing your contributions to this post in the comment section below. Love always.

Stay with me,

Ruka
