Halloo,
I honestly applaud anybody, especially women, who have the get-up-and-go attitude towards everything in life. Those who don’t sit around waiting for someone to come solve their problems for them. People like these have a special place in my heart.
The problem is many of us are stuck doing a job or business we have no interest in, but we have to do these jobs to pay the bills. Understandably so. But our mental health suffers a lot doing what we despise or have no interest in daily.
If you want to change and do something more satisfying that will still pay your bills you need to sit down and have to think about it. Not a lot of people are lucky enough to find this balance by chance and luck. Many of us have to put in the work to create our own profitable Niche and still love what we do.
A Niche is a particular area of a job, position, or business that is very suitable for someone. This particular space should be an area the person really likes.
You can like an area of a job, position, or business and nobody is willing to pay for it. And people may be willing to pay for a particular area of a business but you have no interest in it. Life is like that.
There are so many areas to every job, position, or business. The trick is to find the one that is suitable for you, make money from it, and can ultimately make you happy for a very long time.
How can you determine this? Take a look at these 5 factors to consider in creating a profitable niche for yourself.

5 Factors to consider in creating a niche
PASSION
The first step is to find an area that you are interested in. Something that absolutely gives you joy. If you don’t take the time to really dig deep and determine this from the onset you may end up back to where you started from.
It is not always easy to determine. Many people cannot honestly say what they like. Some fear that what they really like may turn out to be a bad business or job. This is true. That is why we need a profitable passion.
But, it is important to know what you like and are passionate about. Then determine if you can create a business out of it. Research and ask questions. Do your homework properly. Not everything we have passion for can be turned into money-making ventures. In the process of digging, you might discover a profitable area that you never knew was possible.
It is possible for a person to be passionate about so many things. Sitting down to reflect, research, and deep thinking will help determine the profitable one that will tick all the boxes.
To achieve your goals and be happy with what you have passion is needed. To me, this is what sets successful businesses apart from others. The road is long and lonely. Sometimes you just get so tired and want to pack it in, if you don’t really love it and make money from it you will easily throw in the towel.
I have seen so many people start with so much enthusiasm and suddenly the fire just died down. Passion and progress are what get you through the rough times.
I love writing. it is therapeutic for me. When things go wrong I write about it. When things are going great I write about it. I am passionate about writing. I know this is something I can’t get tired of doing, so I use it a lot for my work and business by doing content marketing.
There is a lot of debate on whether passion is more important than skill or skill is more important. I think both are important but I will always pick passion over skill.
Take my writing skill for example. You must have seen my numerous grammatical and punctuation errors. I can’t stand up to many people where skill is concerned in this area. But I have stood the test of time because I love it. I am sure there are millions of people out there more skillful but don’t have the passion.
Moreover, skill can be taught but passion can’t.
HARD WORK
Passion is all good but comes to nothing if you don’t back it up with hard work. Nothing works if you are not willing to put in the hard work. Your passion is nothing if you are lazy. Harsh, but true.
The idea of working only when you feel like is not a sign of someone who is aiming for success. Your energy, time, and everything should be dedicated to your business. Anybody who doesn’t do this and claims to have passion is not being truthful to themselves, in my opinion.
When you truly burn for what you are doing, hard work and passion will merge together. That will be your driving force. I never understand when someone tells me they didn’t have time to work on their business. I am sorry, I don’t get it. Listen, I live and breathe my business. I am laser-focused on it. Maybe it is just me. But if you are going to do anything, why not give it your all?
How do we get to be good at something if we only work on it when we are in the mood? You put in the hour practicing and practicing until you get better.
Remember the same number of hours you have a day is what those getting their work done have. Direct your energy and time towards what you want. forgive my bluntness, I have no sympathy for excuses.
Even if you attended the best university in the world and were taught by the best teachers if you aren’t putting in the work necessary, it won’t go anywhere.
Hard work brings results. The result brings confidence. Confidence brings motivation. Motivation brings success.
You want to be a champion. Practice.
SKILL
Your passion and hard work need skills to go further. If you keep practicing rubbish, you will get good at rubbish.
You need relevant skills to back it up. Your passion may be something other people have too, so what new skills are you bringing to the table to make people listen to you?
Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to know more than everybody (that is not possible anyway) But to bring something fresh, new, and entertaining is a skill on its own.
Be truthful to yourself, when you determine the area you are interested in and want to work or do business in this area, make sure you have the skills needed. If you don’t have the necessary skills, make a move to learn.
I find that the more you learn the more you realize how little you know. this will drive you to keep learning.
POSITIVE MINDSET
My favourite of these factors. How can we achieve anything if we don’t have any beliefs in ourselves? We can have the best skill-set in the world. Be passionate. Be the hardest working person in the world. If your mindset is negative you are going nowhere.
That is why we hear phrases like ‘Fake it till you make it which many people are finding fault with. I don’t. It is all about context. Confidence is all about attitude.
Telling yourself you can do it and acting it out is very important. If you do this long enough your inner self will start believing it. Our subconscious can hear our thinking, tell it you can do this and you will.
If I worry about my grammatical errors I won’t be writing at all. But I published with confidence despite my mistakes. I am learning grammar and punctuation rules right now. but if I decided to wait till I am perfect I won’t do this at all.
If you want something bad enough. Start. Be positive. Don’t be afraid of mistakes. You are still a million miles better than someone who is not trying at all.
You can do this!
MENTOR
We all need support. Sometimes someone just cheers us on. Finding the right person to hold your hands as you navigate this new water might be the greatest boost for you.
Sometimes a process that will normally take you weeks to complete might just take you only a few days if you have the support of someone in that field showing you the way.
Be sure to pick someone interested in you and what you want. Choose someone with the right knowledge for the niche you are trying to carve. You can even have more than one mentor. Maybe someone for technical support and the other for moral support.
Please, be careful to take time commitment seriously. I have mentored a couple of people who have no respect for time. It is always painful because the person helping needs to see that there is potential for growth in the person they are dedicating time to support. Not keeping to time is a bad sign.
I also implore you to choose someone whose values closely match yours as much as possible. Many charlatans are out there with bad ethics and questionable values. They take shortcuts to everything. This is a disaster for you and whatever you are hoping to achieve, Be alert.
A mentor is to guide you, not to do the business or work for you. You have to realize that the work will be done by you.
My people, Yorubas from Nigeria say, ‘A child that raises its arms is the one the mother will carry’. Meaning – A mentor can only help properly if you are willing to work hard.
What else do you need? I think you should be focused, persevere, manage your time wisely, make some strict rules for yourself, and keep motivating yourself by tracking your progress. All of these help me derive happiness in what I do.
