Halloo,
HONESTLY! The only reason I don’t socialize with some people is because they can’t LEAVE THEIR PHONES ALONE.
I don’t do small talks. I love quality deep conversations. You can’t do that with someone who is always talking, texting, or checking their phones.
I am happier when I have engaging meaningful conversations with people. These kinds of conversations broaden my knowledge and I get to understand the person better. Good conversations take effort but are more rewarding.
You can hardly have such conversations with people forever engaged on their phones. For me, phones are for when you are not with others. If you are with someone else and you get a call. Answer it briefly and let the person on the other end of the phone know you will call back. This is respect for all the parties concerned.
Respect others by putting your phone away when you are in their company. Think about it for a minute. Why meet up if you can just converse on the phone? It is for a deep, more meaningful connection. Isn’t it? Why waste that precious time engaged on the phone?
I don’t socialize easily, so if I make the effort to come out, I really have great respect for you. But no matter how great that respect is, if you spend the whole time we are together on your phone, you can rest assured that we won’t be socializing together anymore. The type of conversations I like requires effort on both sides.
I know that there are people who don’t mind conversing with someone glued to their phone. Good for them. I do. In fact, I do very much. I think it is bad behaviour. A total disregard for others. Am I wrong?
