Halloo,
I hope you are all doing fine.
I cannot overemphasize the importance of being informed about your skincare products choices.
With rising awareness of what you put into your body either internally as foods or externally as beauty products came the birth of many Natural Skincare Brands.
Many of these brands have done it; they have broken the norm and proven that Natural Skincare can be sexy, glamorous and effective.
A close look at most of the people behind these Skincare brands shows that their businesses came from trying to solve a personal problem or health issues. I think you and I can draw inspiration from them.
Most successful people have a painful story to tell. So please be inspired.
Here are 10 Top Natural Skincare Brands and the story of the people who created them:
GREEN PEOPLE
You have to love this woman, I do. Her name is Charlotte Vohtz.
she created Green People in 1997 because she was trying to find the solution to her daughter’s eczema and severe allergies
I am sure every mother is going ‘Aww.
Her Principle is simply not to sacrifice product performance and ethical practice for profit. Charlotte also promised her customers never to use aggressive ingredients or synthetic chemicals in her products. I guess that is why Green People is doing great.
This is a classic case of turning a problem into a positive outcome.
JOHN MASTERS
This luxury natural beauty line is named after its creator.
He said,
“John Masters Organics grew out of my desire to create a luxury beauty line that treats the earth with respect.”
That is so touching, won’t the world be a better place if we all emulate that statement.
This man said a lot of really inspiring things about Natural Products and the dangers of Chemicals and synthetics we load into our bodies unknowingly.
John Masters urges us all to remember that we only get one body and only one planet. We should treat both with the utmost care.
I am doing just that with my business and in my personal life. How about you?
BAREFOOT
The beautiful story of this brand lies in its name. This name was inspired by the ancient Chinese tradition of doctors who travelled from village to village without shoes, to bring natural remedies to the people. Now if that doesn’t pull at your heart string, you are made of harder stuff than I am.
They claim their products are developed by natural healthcare experts, specially formulated to bring together the science of skincare with the natural power of botanical extracts.
As an African, I totally get where the story of this brand is coming from and a staunch believer in Mother Nature and her bounties I know that products like these deliver.
THE ORGANIC PHARMACY
Another beautiful story from a woman named Margo who created this brand with the help of her husband Franco in London.
Margo is a trained Pharmacist with specialization in herbal medicine but her light-bulb moment came while studying homeopathy.
She said and I quote:
“Whilst studying homeopathy I became aware of Organic and what it meant. Shocked that I had been unaware of the level of poisonous pesticides used in our food and the questionable ingredients used in cosmetics, I decided to use my herbal, homeopathic and pharmaceutical knowledge to create a shopping haven free from chemicals found in other stores, a place where expert knowledge on well-being, herbs, and homeopathic remedies were readily available. My principles were very simple, the best organic ingredients, honest expert advice, quality service, incredibly effective products and a caring environment. I took the idea to my husband Franco whose design skills and vision turned The Organic Pharmacy into a modern-day health and beauty center.”
Need I say more? This woman has it all covered.
TATA HARPER
Named after the person behind the brand. Cool name, don’t you think?
Tata Harper grew up in Colombia and like most young girls she was into beauty products big time until a major event changed her life.
Here is how she recounts the event:
“My cabinets were always full of the latest and most luxurious lotions and creams but it wasn’t until my stepfather was diagnosed with cancer that I started to take a look at the ingredients that were in the products I used on my body every day. Upon doing a little research, I was shocked to discover they were full of potentially dangerous chemicals, some of which were carcinogenic (cancer-causing)!”
Tata Harper said she began searching for 100% natural skincare line that will smell gorgeous, good texture, and performance but found nothing that will be as effective as the harmful ones she was used to. Being an entrepreneur and with a love for science, she went ahead and create her own brand.
A woman after my heart. See problem; find a solution. That is how many Entrepreneur became successful.
I am sure most of us are careful about our choice of Skincare Products. But for those who aren’t, this is another reason to take action.
AMALA
The story here lies in the name, Founded by Ute Leube. She loves the name ‘Amala’ because it has many unique meanings, and the harmony of all the names really struck something in her. As it did me.
Amala in Sanskrit means, “Most Pure.” In Tibetan means, “Revered Mother.” In Spanish means, “Love Her.”
Ute said, “We believe that if we love and respect the earth as we would our own mother, nature will give us everything we need to look and feel beautiful.”
Aww! That is almost like a poem, honestly, they should make a car bumper sticker with that statement.
I won’t hesitate to buy products from someone with an attitude like this because you know you are getting products as close to nature as possible.

TRILOGY
This is a family story of two New Zealand sisters (Sarah Gibbs and Catherine de Groot ) They found Trilogy in 2002 on the belief that, like themselves, people wanted to make more natural and ethical choices for their skincare, without having to sacrifice quality.
A very accurate belief, in my opinion.
Their story is so sweet and enchanting and led to a successful skincare brand.
ESTELLE & THILD
This Swedish Organic Skincare Brand is the brainchild of Pernilla Ronnberg in 2007. The story is close to my heart because of the reason she gave for starting this brand. As a mother reflecting on the future of her daughters, Estelle and Mathilde and the world in which they would grow up.
As the former CEO of a Nordic beauty company Pernilla became uncomfortably aware of the harmful chemicals and unnatural ingredients liberally used by many skin care brands.
She wanted to develop an innovative skincare brand rooted in organic ingredients and sustainable technology with a feeling of luxury.
She did it, as this brand is not only popular in Scandinavian countries but across the globe.
A strong message for those who still go about picking beauty products off the shelf in stores without care. Please pause and think.

PAI SKINCARE
Sarah Brown launched this Brand in 2007 with a goal of creating the cleanest plant-based skincare on the market, with a range of products formulated for people with very sensitive skin.
Sarah was inspired to create her brand after years of suffering from a bad skin allergy. She was advised by Doctors to keep taking a high dose of anti-histamine on a daily basis as the only solution. She got fed up and went on a search to see if she can discover what the problem was. Here is what she said:
“I started researching all the products I used, to see if there were common ingredients triggering my attacks.
What I discovered shocked me:
- Many chemicals used in skincare products can irritate the skin and cause allergies.
- These toxins can build up in the body and have been linked to wider health problems.
- Cosmetics companies use these chemicals because they are cheap and extend product shelf life.
- Many leading natural skincare companies use the same chemicals or worse in their products while making misleading ‘organic’ claims.”
I can relate to this story of Sarah’s. I spent years suffering going from pillar to post with no solution. Read my story here.

GOLDFADEN MD
Gary Goldfaden, M.D. is a practising dermatologist, a decision he made after a bout with a serious skin problem during his first year of medical school.
He said he got frustrated by the dermatological products readily available for his patients’ skin issues.
Won’t you just love to have him as your doctor?
He began seeking out alternative approaches including natural remedies and more potent, prescription-strength ingredients. His discovery led to the creation of this known and loved product line.
Now, I am wishing I studied medicine. Not too late?
