Halloo,
A few years back when I started my small business I promised myself that no matter how bad I am feeling, no matter how tired I am, no matter how bad my pain is… I will make sure I carry out my business activities daily.
Learn to know the people who are gold and those who are gold-plated. This is absolutely important if you want a peaceful life.
It is laughable when someone you have absolutely no idea read what you write says your post is about her?
I know, funny, right?
It just goes to confirm my theory that there are many disillusioned people walking around like normal people.
Now, imagine taking advice about your life from such people? You are in trouble.
Forget Age. Forget Academic Qualifications, Forget how long they have been Married. Forget Religious Beliefs. Forget Career Achievements. Forget Gender. Forget Race. Forget Popularity. Forget Family Ties.
Look for wisdom.
I mean when an elderly person sees nothing wrong in engaging in street fights and you still go tabling your life problems in front of such person for advice and help, the joke is on who?
So, someone has been married for 40 years, but in an abusive relationship. Obvious to everybody. And that is your dictionary when seeking meaning for a lasting relationship. The joke is on who?
The Ph.D. holder with a closed mind, that still believes that you have no say in how you served your God is your reference on religious matter. The joke is on who?
That popular person on Facebook with no portfolio other than taking selfies is your role model? Please, the joke is on who?
That Managing Director of a multinational company who is a known predator of young ladies is someone you look up to. The joke is on who?
You belong to a group that does nothing but gossip and put others down just because you are bored. The joke is on who?
You will not help someone desperately in need because your religious leader says No, or because they don’t belong to the same faith as you. The joke is on who, please?
The Alpha male who treats his wife like a piece of property in the name of tradition is your ideal man. The joke is on who dear?
Someone whose idea of being black is to spread hatred about other Races is the next Martin Luther King in your opinion. The joke is on who?
You spend money you don’t have to buy things you don’t need just to be part of a group. You still want me to ask ‘The Joke is on who’?
I can go on and on. But the point I am trying to make is simple- Choose carefully: people you take advise from, people you follow, people you reference, people you look up to, and people you associate with.
Many people giving advise mean well and can only advise according to their experiences, which may be totally different from what you are looking to achieve.
Sometimes a good sit-down with yourself is all you need. Shut out the noise, have a good think about the problem and see it from different perspectives. Then decide on a course of action.
I know sometimes we are so close to the problem that another person’s view will really help. Please don’t just choose anybody. Choose wisely.
So many people project their fears and insecurities on you without realizing it.
Some people are nut-jobs walking around like normal human beings. They are 5-minutes away from being certified. Just because they can string a few sentences together, and can do it clearly and loudly does not mean they are less messed up than other cases.
People will advise you. Be polite and appreciate their efforts. Then take the advice and weigh it properly according to your situation. If it suits, fine. If not simply let it go.
At least if you are going to mess-up let it be entirely your own doing, not someone else controlling you like a puppet.
Some follow advice based on the person giving it, not on the merit of the advice in relation to their problems. That person you think is perfect is having their own issues too.
The joke is really on you if you let people who can’t even keep their life together mess with yours.
Remember nothing gives you better health than peace of mind. So, please watch who you associate with.
You should be the person in the driving seat of the journey that is your life.
