Halloo,
I am in the mood for sharing a little piece of me.
I am not very good at promoting myself, so I apologize in advance if this write-up is a little awkward. I am sure you will forgive me. Please ask me questions. I do better at answering questions, so ask. Enjoy.
I started Natural skincare Business at Ruka’s Place because of what I went through as a person with extremely dry sensitive skin. This dryness was the cause of extremely uncomfortable ITCHING.
It was years later that I realized this itching was one of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. The itching made my life difficult. Check my story on living with chronic pain.
I went from Doctors to Doctors both medical and alternative medicine and no cure could be found. In my desperation, I ditched my regular skincare products and turned to Store-bought Natural Skincare Products.
Almost every skincare product makes me itch, even the so-called Natural Skincare Products.
For a while I stopped using all skincare products, I was that fed up.
This stopped the itching but I ended up with extremely scaly, dry, and chapped skin. I looked like something from another planet (Think ‘Avatar’ the Film).
I complained to my mother, and as a true African Woman, she sent me Raw Shea Butter and instructed me to use it without mixing it with anything, in other words, to use it raw.
And all my skin problems disappear, no more itching and no more dry-skin.
All was well, you think? But the smell of Raw Shea Butter was too strong for me. No amount of threats and cajoling will get my children to use it. The nutty, earthy smell followed us around.
I went around feeling very self -conscious and covering myself with perfumes.
I was resigning myself to fate when by chance I stumbled upon a YouTube video of a woman making Natural face cream.
I applied her techniques to my Raw Shea butter by placing a little of my Shea butter in a double-boiler, then add a little quantity of Pure Coconut oil and let it all melt together (note she added more things to her cream but I was sceptical due to previous skincare products experiences) I poured into a jar and let it cool a little then added Ylang-Ylang essential oil.
In Retrospect that wasn’t the best mix of body cream I ever made, but at the time you’d think I had just discovered the recipe for Coca-Cola.
I was ecstatic with the result I achieved, especially with the smell. I told everybody who cared to listen about my discovery and the result it was giving me.
Making it yourself is the best.
So I started experimenting. I looked out for my skin reaction to adding some ingredients. I discovered what my skin likes and what it doesn’t.
The journey so far has been very informative, rewarding and satisfying.
It gave birth to my business RUKA’S PLACE EARTHY SKINCARE. Where I sell Raw Ingredients for making your own Natural Skincare Products. I also sell Handmade Skincare Products. You should check me out when you have a moment to spare. We offer a wide range of services to Nature-Lovers.
I believe strongly that each and every one of us needs to take the future of our skin and its general well-being into our hands.
Many skincare manufacturers, especially the natural ones, really have good intentions and go as far as possible to make sure they use less harmful chemicals as possible.
But they have to make profits and one of the ways to make their business profitable is to make sure the products’ shelf life is long, some of the of stuff used to achieve this may be ok for some skins, but not for some.
So doing it yourself is crucial.
Remember! it is only as difficult and complicated as you want it to be.
I have watched some YouTube videos of people making Skincare Products and the whole of their tables filled with lots of bottles, jars, tubs and so forth, Scary, isn’t it?
While I have watched some videos where some people make their Formulations with just 3 ingredients and in less than 10 minutes they are done.
You are in control, you have the chance to choose as many ingredients as you want.
As for me, my motto is to keep it as simple as possible. You can learn a lot this way and you won’t consider it a chore and frightening.
So my Natural Skincare Enthusiasts give it a try and make a nice body-cream today for you and your family. You’ll be amazed at what you can do.
This is my story, what’s yours?

Though I don’t have that kind of skin problem but the only issue I have with my skin is my face. It’s always darker than the rest of my body so I just stopped all bought creams and opted for shear butter. Though it still doesn’t solve the problem but at least I know am safe using natural product. I want to ask please the shear butter whipped cream I made turned solid after making it? Is that suppose to be cos the ones have been seeing online are always kinda soft like lotion. Though was very fluffy when I finished making it but after a while in the jar it became solid. Thanks
Hello Hameedah,
Thanks a lot for reading. It is perfectly fine for your mixture to turn harder days later. I think you did a good job though since you said it is still fluffy. If you want I could have a look at your ingredients and the quantities you are using for your mixture, I may be able to suggest a way to solve this, send me an email at rukasplace14@gmail.com. It might also be due to the weather of where you live.
About the face being darker than your body. I think it might be nature. I have same problem. I wouldnt worry about it if you were born that way. once again thanks for reading.
