Halloo,
It is so easy as an entrepreneur just starting out to believe that all your problems will be solved once you get your products online.
THAT IS NOT THE CASE!
Oh dear! Did I just burst a bubble?
You will be surprised how many people still believe that the easiest way to get high sales volume with little effort is by selling online.
I was once in that category of people, but I learned the hard way that selling online is not a stroll in the park.
After a long time of making noise online and not getting noticed I decided to look deeper into how to get traction online. I read, researched, and even went to do a course in Digital Marketing.
I honestly recommend doing the same if you want to make an impact online especially if you don’t have a huge capital to hire professionals.
Do I really need to have my own website? You asked. YES! YES!! YES!!!
You really do need your own website.
I know it is possible to sell on some social media and other platforms now. But to really build that long-lasting business, you should get a website.
I think this is the bedrock of your Online business, in fact, all businesses (both Online or Offline) should have a website.
All your activities on other platforms should be to drive traffic and support your business website.
Later we will talk about how to obtain, build, and maintain a website.
To make a success of your Small Online Business the best approach is to operate it like any other business. Do all those things that businesses need to do to survive and then some.
To sell online successfully you need to do what people with a physical shop do daily:
- Merchandising: Make sure you arrange your online shop orderly so it is easy for your customers to find your goods online.
- Marketing: Be prepared to make noises in the right places to the right people.
- Provide as much information on products as possible
- Be ready to answer customers queries promptly and politely.
- Make sure you do all things possible to make potential customers feel secure in buying from you.
- Give potential customers reasons to buy from you by giving advice, information, and listening to their concerns
- Regularly update your website
- Try to view your business from the customer’s point of view, this will help you to see potential problems before customers see them.
I am hopeful that you will find this write-up helpful. Remember you are your business, so make sure you represent it positively in all you do.
Stay with me,
Ruka
